Syarikat Setia Tanjong Sdn Bhd was established in 1989 in the Oil and Gas hub of east Malaysia. In the earlier stage, SST had been specializing primarily on transportation and manpower supply in the cement trade, with CMS Cement Sdn Bhd being its main customer. During the initiation period, the company was operating with only two trucks that were purchased from the proceeds of the sale of the shareholder's personal holdings. Corresponding with the mounting demand and supply of cement over the years, SST had inflated its line of trucks to 10 units as well as other machineries, in order to meet with clients' consignment prerequisite.

In conjunction with the nation's economic growth and in quest of achieving its corporate goals, the Board of Directors felt the need to enhance and expand SST's current business operations. In 1997, SST had set up its Business Development Department to seek for new business opportunities.

Realizing the auspicious prospects in the oil & gas industry, SST had ventured into the oil and Gas market in Malaysia and had registered as contractor for Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. as well as Shell Malaysia Berhad. After which, SST had upgraded its registration to wider work fields and is now acting as a Licensed company for Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. SST had indulged itself in the supply and delivery of various tools and equipment for the industry. SST had also been granted the distributorship and agency from both local and international companies to market their products here.

SST had spread its wings by opening branch offices throughout Malaysia.

Being part of its expansion program, SST identified the need of yet another fundamental department for both the smooth-running of its operation as well as the market potential of the sector. Thus, in 1998 SST established its own Shipping and Forwarding Department. In addition to that, SST had achieved yet another of its millennium projection; i.e. establishing worldwide networks, to meet the requirements of the oil, petrochemical and associated industries on a worldwide basis. Now, throught its associated companies in UK,USA, UAE and Singapore, duty personnel are available on an 'out of hours' service to meet those critical requirements that the industry so often needs from where we are ideally situated to supply products to all our clients promptly and efficiently.
