PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
CRYSTAL-LOK™
is a proprietary, aqueous blend of sodium silicates, penetrating aids
and defoamers formulated for application by spray, roller or brush.
CRYSTAL LOK™ is non toxic and has been approved for potable water applications.
CRYSTAL LOK™ is effective in sealing, hardening, waterproofing and dustproofing
concrete surfaces. It protects concrete surfaces from abrasion, freeze-thaw
damage and chloride ion intru-sion. It stops water seepage from either
the positive or negative side of the concrete slab when the seepage
is not caused by cracking or other structural flaws. CRYSTAL-LOK™ prevents
efflorescence which will improve the bonding of cementitous toppings,
coatings, and paints.
BASIC
USE
CRYSTAL-LOK™ penetrates deeply into the gel and capillary pores of the
concrete and “crystallizes” as part of the concrete. It is a concrete
treatment and not a surface coating. It does not change the appearance
of concrete because it becomes part of the concrete. It will not discolor
or separate. It works equally well on old or new concrete, above or
below grade, and is intended for use on poured in place walls, pre-formed
tilt-ups, bridges, road surfaces, pipes, basement walls, foundations,
sidewalks and slabs. Can be applied to damp concrete with no standing
water. Properly installed, the CRYSTAL LOK™ treatment is permanent and
will raise surface pH. See technical documentation for details.
LIMITATIONS
- Apply
at temperatures above 38° F and rising, and below 125° F. Follow
all local, State and Federal laws.
- Follow
manufacturer's directions and do not over apply. Over saturation
may cause surface powdering.
- DO
NOT PUDDLE.
- Can
be stored indefinitely, Keep from freezing. Agitate before application.
- Protect
any glass or aluminum surfaces as etching will occur.
- Do
not apply to clay brick or other clay based products.
- Do
not apply over painted surfaces. Do not apply where other sealers
are within the concrete.
- Test
for follow-on coating preparation per that manufacturers requirements.

PREPARATION
and COVERAGE
DO NOT DILUTE. Remove all heavy buildup of grease, wax, soot, oil and
other deposits, coatings or paint prior to application of CRYSTAL-LOK.
A residue free surface is essential before coating applications begin.
Coverage on broom finished concrete is normally 200 square feet per
gallon. Smooth, trowled concrete may only require one gallon per 400
square feet. On fresh concrete CRYSTAL- LOK™ is applied as soon as the
surface water sheen has disappeared and the concrete can be walked upon.
On vertical, formed surfaces, apply as soon as the forms have been stripped.
On cured concrete, surfaces to be treated should be cleaned then tested
by sprinkling water on them. If the water beads up the surface may have
a previously applied organic coating which then will have to be removed
with a strong stripper such as a 7:1 solution of muriatic acid and or
a strong detergent such as TSP. When used, these must be cleaned with
Chlor*Rid DTS.
